Veneering 101

Unlock the secrets of using veneer and a vacuum bag, and open a new world of design possibilities and wood choices.

In this Saturday workshop, we’ll cover the basics of veneer matching and cutting techniques by designing panels with simple and four-way book-matching. At the end of the class, you’ll have your own veneered panel to take home with you.

First, you’ll learn how select and prepare your veneers and substrates. Then we move on to matching and cutting the veneer, where you’ll learn tips for “previewing” your book-match and making a clean cut. Finally, we’ll show you the proper methods to apply adhesive, place your veneer on the substrate, and use the vacuum bag.

Skills Learned

Veneer and substrate selection, cutting and matching panels, tool use, application of adhesive, and use of a vacuum bag.
